We’re gearing up for the 2016 edition of My Beautiful Home and we couldn’t be more excited! If the last two years are anything to go by, we’re about to embark on another amazing journey. We’ve expanded the reach once again by taking in another ward, and there is strong interest in Shurugwi to run a competition of its own, based on our success and using the My Beautiful Home brand. So what started as a tiny seed of an idea is spreading and growing, at times faster than we can keep up with! With that in mind, the month of August will be spent traveling through the various wards with the co-ordinators and local judges doing the first stage selection of huts entered; if there are people out there who would be interested in helping out on a voluntary basis with this stage of the competition, contact us. You would ideally need your own vehicle, and be prepared to comply with MBH rules and guidelines. We can promise, however, that the rewards, are incredible. Part of the MBH team met recently with some of the local co-ordinators and handed out posters, entry forms and competition rules.
It was a fantastic opportunity to discuss the way forward for MBH, and the implications of its role in cultural preservation, the significance of which goes far beyond the competition itself. It was great to get their feedback and to hear that the people of Matopos are ready for MBH 2017, as are we!
